First Sailing - active patrol
U-175 left Kiel under the command of Heinrich Bruns on 15th Aug 1942 and arrived at Lorient on 17th Oct 1942 after nine weeks.
Heinrich Bruns hit nine ships on this patrol, one was from convoy TRIN-14.
  • On 18th Sep 1942 he sank the Canadian 1,901 ton Norfolk.
  • On 21st Sep 1942 he sank the Yugoslavian 1,798 ton Predsednik Kopajtic.

  • On 26th Sep 1942 he sank the Panamanian 1,811 ton Tambour.
  • On 28th Sep 1942 he sank the American 5,590 ton Alcoa Mariner.
  • On 1st Oct 1942 he sank the British 2,880 ton Empire Tennyson.
  • On 2nd Oct 1942 he sank the Panamanian 5,074 ton Aneroid.

Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 1st Dec 1942, U-175 left Lorient under the command of Heinrich Bruns and returned to Lorient on 24th Feb 1943 after just over twelve weeks on patrol.
On 1st Jan 1943 in square ET 37, U-175 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 270 Squadron. U-175 was only slightly damaged in the attack.
On 30th Jan 1943 in square EJ 96, U-175 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 270 Squadron. U-175 was heavily damaged in the attack.
Heinrich Bruns hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 23rd Jan 1943 he sank the American 7,177 ton Benjamin Smith.
10.04.1943 - 17.04.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-175 departed under Heinrich Bruns from Lorient on 10th Apr 1943. The boat was sunk on 17th Apr 1943.
