U-183 left Kiel under the command of Heinrich Schäfer on 19th Sep 1942 and arrived at Lorient on 23rd Dec 1942 after thirteen and a half weeks.
Heinrich Schäfer hit one ship on this patrol from convoy ONS-146.
  • On 3rd Dec 1942 he sank the British 6,089 ton Empire Dabchick, sailing with convoy ONS-146.
30.01.1943 - 13.05.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 30th Jan 1943, U-183 left Lorient under the command of Heinrich Schäfer and returned to Lorient on 13th May 1943 after more than fourteen weeks on patrol.
Heinrich Schäfer hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 11th Mar 1943 he sank the 2,493 ton Olancho.
03.07.1943 - 30.10.1943

U-183 departed under Heinrich Schäfer from Lorient on 3rd Jul 1943 and arrived at Penang on 30th Oct 1943 after seventeen weeks.

U-183 departed under Fritz Schneewind from Penang on 1st Nov 1944 and arrived at Kobe on 30th Nov 1944 after just over four weeks.In fact the exact dates of the departure for Kobe and arrival on this patrol remain unknown, except that the voyage was made during this month.
