First Sailing - active patrol
U-186 left Kiel under the command of Siegfried Hesemann on 31st Dec 1942 and arrived at return on 5th Mar 1943 after just over nine weeks.
Siegfried Hesemann hit three ships on this patrol and all of them were in convoy: two were from convoy ON-166 and one was from convoy SC-115.
  • On 11th Jan 1943 he sank the British 7,174 ton Ocean Vagabond, sailing with convoy SC-115.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he sank the American 5,401 ton Hastings, a member of convoy ON-166.
  • On 23rd Feb 1943 he sank the British 6,207 ton Eulima, part of convoy ON-166.

Second Sailing
On the 17th Apr 1943, U-186 left Lorient under the command of Siegfried Hesemann and after three and a half weeks arrived at return on 12th May 1943.
