On the 10th Jan 1943, U-268 left Bergen under the command of Ernst Heydemann. The boat was lost on 19th Feb 1943. On 3rd Feb 1943 in square AA 34, U-268 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. On 19th Feb 1943 in square BF 54, U-268 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 172 Squadron. U-268 was destroyed in the attack.
