17.12.1942 - 19.02.1943
Eleventh Sailing - active patrol
On the 17th Dec 1942, U-436 left Lorient under the command of Günther Seibicke and arrived at return on 19th Feb 1943 after just over nine weeks.
On 12th Feb 1943 in square CG 45, U-436 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 233 Squadron. U-436 was not damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
Günther Seibicke hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy TM-1.
  • On 8th Jan 1943 he sank the British 6,394 ton Oltenia II, a member of convoy TM-1.
  • On 8th Jan 1943 he sank the Norwegian 8,309 ton Albert L Ellsworth, part of convoy TM-1.

Twelfth Sailing
U-436 departed under Günther Seibicke from St. Nazaire on 25th Apr 1943 and after four and a half weeks arrived at return on 26th May 1943.
On 14th May 1943 in square BD 64, U-436 came under attack from an aircraft of FAA 811 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
