First Sailing - active patrol
U-439 left Kiel under the command of Wolfgang Sporn on 12th Nov 1942 and arrived at Brest on 24th Dec 1942 after six weeks.
28.01.1943 - 02.02.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 28th Jan 1943, U-439 left Brest under the command of Wolfgang Sporn and returned to Brest on 2nd Feb 1943 after five days on patrol.
22.02.1943 - 28.03.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-439 departed under Helmut von Tippelskirch from Brest on 22nd Feb 1943 and arrived back at Brest on 28th Mar 1943 after nearly five weeks on patrol.
At 1652 HRS on 8th Mar 1943 in square AK 37, U-439 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 120 Squadron. U-439 was not damaged by the attack.
At 1335 HRS on 9th Mar 1943 in square AL 16, U-439 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-439 was not damaged by the attack.
At 0918 HRS on 17th Mar 1943 U-439 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 86 Squadron. U-439 was not damaged by the attack.
27.04.1943 - 04.05.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-439 left Brest under the command of Helmut von Tippelskirch on 27th Apr 1943. U-439 was lost on 4th May 1943.
