30.05.1942 - 03.06.1942 First Sailing U-457 left Kiel under the command of Karl Brandenburg on 30th May 1942 and arrived at Trondheim on 3rd Jun 1942 after four days.
18.06.1942 - 22.06.1942 Second Sailing On the 18th Jun 1942, U-457 left Trondheim under the command of Karl Brandenburg and returned to Trondheim on 22nd Jun 1942 after four days.
28.06.1942 - 16.07.1942 Third Sailing - active patrol U-457 departed under Karl Brandenburg from Trondheim on 28th Jun 1942 and arrived at Narvik on 16th Jul 1942 after two and a half weeks. Karl Brandenburg hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy PQ-17. On 4th Jul 1942 he sank the American 7,191 ton Christopher Newport, sailing with convoy PQ-17. On 7th Jul 1942 he sank the British 8,402 ton Aldersdale, a member of convoy PQ-17.
18.07.1942 - 20.07.1942 Fourth Sailing U-457 left Narvik under the command of Karl Brandenburg on 18th Jul 1942 and after two days arrived at Trondheim on 20th Jul 1942.
08.08.1942 - 07.09.1942 Fifth Sailing - active patrol On the 8th Aug 1942, U-457 left Trondheim under the command of Karl Brandenburg and arrived at Narvik on 7th Sep 1942 after over four weeks.
10.09.1942 - 16.09.1942 Sixth Sailing - active patrol U-457 departed under Karl Brandenburg from Narvik on 10th Sep 1942. The boat was declared missing after 16th Sep 1942. Karl Brandenburg hit one ship on this patrol from convoy PQ-18. On 14th Sep 1942 he damaged the British 8,939 ton Atheltemplar, part of convoy PQ-18.
