U-468 left Kiel under the command of Klemens Schamong on 28th Jan 1943 and arrived at Kristiansand on 30th Jan 1943 after two days.
01.02.1943 - 27.03.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 1st Feb 1943, U-468 left Kristiansand under the command of Klemens Schamong and after more than seven weeks arrived at La Pallice on 27th Mar 1943.
Klemens Schamong hit one ship on this patrol from convoy ON-168.
  • On 12th Mar 1943 he sank the British 6,537 ton Empire Light, sailing with convoy ON-168.
19.04.1943 - 29.05.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-468 departed under Klemens Schamong from La Pallice on 19th Apr 1943 and arrived back at La Pallice on 29th May 1943 after more than five weeks on patrol.
At 0835 HRS on 22nd May 1943 in square AK 87, U-468 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC-9 Squadron.
At 0932 HRS on 22nd May 1943 in square AK 87, U-468 came under attack from an aircraft of USN VC-9 Squadron. U-468 was moderately damaged by the attack.
At 1557 HRS on 22nd May 1943 in square BD 13, U-468 came under attack from an aircraft of FAA 819 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
07.07.1943 - 11.08.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-468 left La Pallice under the command of Klemens Schamong on 7th Jul 1943. The boat was lost on 11th Aug 1943.
