18.05.1944 - 19.05.1944 First Sailing U-480 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Joachim Förster on 18th May 1944 and arrived at Arendal on 19th May 1944 after one day.
07.06.1944 - 07.07.1944 Second Sailing - active patrol On the 7th Jun 1944, U-480 left Arendal under the command of Hans-Joachim Förster and after over four weeks arrived at Brest on 7th Jul 1944.
03.08.1944 - 04.10.1944 Third Sailing - active patrol U-480 departed under Hans-Joachim Förster from Brest on 3rd Aug 1944 and arrived at Trondheim on 4th Oct 1944 after nearly nine weeks. Hans-Joachim Förster hit four ships on this patrol, one was from convoy ETC-72. On 21st Aug 1944 he sank the Canadian 925 ton HMCS Alberni. On 22nd Aug 1944 he sank the British 850 ton HMS Loyalty. On 23rd Aug 1944 he sank the British 7,134 ton Fort Yale, sailing with convoy ETC-72. On 25th Aug 1944 he sank the British 5,712 ton Orminister.
06.01.1945 - 20.02.1945 Fourth Sailing - active patrol U-480 left Trondheim under the command of Hans-Joachim Förster on 6th Jan 1945. The boat was sunk on 20th Feb 1945.
