18.05.1943 - 10.07.1943 First Sailing - active patrol U-488 left Kiel under the command of Erwin Bartke on 18th May 1943 and arrived at Bordeaux on 10th Jul 1943 after seven and a half weeks.
07.09.1943 - 12.12.1943 Second Sailing - active patrol On the 7th Sep 1943, U-488 left Bordeaux under the command of Erwin Bartke and returned to Bordeaux on 12th Dec 1943 after more than thirteen weeks on patrol.
22.02.1944 - 26.04.1944 Third Sailing - active patrol U-488 departed under Bruno Studt from Bordeaux on 22nd Feb 1944. The boat was lost on 26th Apr 1944.
