U-508 left Kiel under the command of Georg Staats on 25th Jun 1942 and arrived at Lorient on 15th Sep 1942 after more than eleven weeks.

U-508 departed under Georg Staats from Lorient on 22nd Feb 1943 and arrived back at Lorient on 15th Mar 1943 after three weeks on patrol. On 26th Feb 1943 in square BE 94, U-508 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 224 Squadron. U-508 was heavily damaged in the attack. |

U-508 left Lorient under the command of Georg Staats on 29th May 1943 and returned two days later to Lorient on 31st May 1943. |
