20.02.1943 - 22.04.1943
First Sailing - active patrol
U-530 left Kiel under the command of Kurt Lange on 20th Feb 1943 and arrived at return on 22nd Apr 1943 after more than eight weeks.
At 1420 HRS on 20th Apr 1943 in square BF 45, U-530 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 10 Squadron. U-530 was not damaged by the attack.
Kurt Lange hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-231 and one was from convoy SC-121.
  • On 9th Mar 1943 he sank the Swedish 3,058 ton Milos, sailing with convoy SC-121.
  • On 5th Apr 1943 he sank the American 9,005 ton Sunoil, a member of convoy HX-231.
29.05.1943 - 03.07.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 29th May 1943, U-530 left Lorient under the command of Kurt Lange and after five weeks arrived at return on 3rd Jul 1943.
On 31st May 1943 in square BF 48, U-530 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 228 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
On 30th Jun 1943 in square BF 74, U-530 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 53 Squadron. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.

U-530 departed under Kurt Lange from Bordeaux on 21st Sep 1943 and arrived at return on the same day.
