First Sailing - active patrol
U-615 left Kiel under the command of Ralph Kapitzky on 5th Sep 1942 and arrived at La Pallice on 30th Oct 1942 after nearly eight weeks.
Ralph Kapitzky hit two ships on this patrol, one was from convoy ONS-136.
  • On 11th Oct 1942 he sank the Panamanian 4,221 ton El Lago, sailing with convoy ONS-136.
  • On 23rd Oct 1942 he sank the British 12,656 ton Empire Star.

Third Sailing - active patrol
U-615 departed under Ralph Kapitzky from La Pallice on 18th Feb 1943 and arrived back at La Pallice on 20th Apr 1943 after more than eight weeks on patrol.
On 22nd Feb 1943 in square BE 56, U-615 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-615 was not damaged by the attack.
On 14th Mar 1943 in square AJ 88, U-615 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-615 was not damaged by the attack.
