First Sailing - active patrol
U-663 left Kiel under the command of Heinrich Schmid on 8th Oct 1942 and arrived at Bergen on 13th Oct 1942 after five days.
05.11.1942 - 31.12.1942
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 5th Nov 1942, U-663 left Bergen under the command of Heinrich Schmid and after eight weeks arrived at Brest on 31st Dec 1942.
Heinrich Schmid hit one ship on this patrol from convoy SC-110.
  • On 26th Nov 1942 he sank the British 5,170 ton Barberrys, sailing with convoy SC-110.

U-663 departed under Heinrich Schmid from Brest on 4th Mar 1943 and arrived back at Brest on 6th Mar 1943 after two days.
10.03.1943 - 08.05.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-663 left Brest under the command of Heinrich Schmid on 10th Mar 1943. The boat was lost on 8th May 1943.
On 12th Mar 1943 in square BF 45, U-663 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft. U-663 was not damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
At 1228 HRS on 7th May 1943 in square BF 45, U-663 came under attack from an aircraft of RAAF 10 Squadron. U-663 was heavily damaged in the attack.
Heinrich Schmid hit one ship on this patrol from convoy SC-122.
  • On 18th Mar 1943 he sank the British 5,754 ton Clarissa Radcliffe, a member of convoy SC-122.
