The Master, 31 crew and the passengers were rescued by the British destroyer HMS Winchelsea (F.40) (Lt-Cdr W.A.F. Hawkins) and landed at Liverpool. Twenty-five crew were lost.

About 15 minutes earlier U-34 also torpedoed and sank Sambre in this convoy. The previous day the boat torpedoed Accra and Vinemoor.
