During the morning the ship had suffered heavy storm damage and fell behind the convoy due to rudder damage. She was abandoned by her crew at 16:21 CET. At 21:19 CET U-591 fired a coup-de-grâce at the damaged and stopped freighter and observed 2 minutes 59 seconds later a hit. The ship was left behind in sinking condition. While leaving the area U-591 heard sinking noises.
