On 6th August 1941 the dispatch vessel PS-70 sailed from Iokanga to Teriberka. The 1st mate observed a submarine's periscope, which crossed the ship's course, but didn't raise an alarm. At 20.15 hours (Moscow time) the PS-70 was sunk by torpedo in 7 miles off Teriberskij lighthouse. 45 men died. Soviet motorboats, which were sent to the area, rescued 12 men. A search for the submarine was launched but with no results.
