First Sailing
U-167 left Kiel under the command of Kurt Neubert on 1st Dec 1942 and arrived at Bergen on 8th Dec 1942 after one week.
21.12.1942 - 16.01.1943
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 21st Dec 1942, U-167 left Bergen under the command of Kurt Neubert and after more than three weeks arrived at St. Nazaire on 16th Jan 1943.
27.02.1943 - 06.04.1943
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-167 departed under Kurt Sturm from St. Nazaire on 27th Feb 1943. On the 6th Apr 1943, U-167 was sunk.
At 0927 HRS on 5th Apr 1943 U-167 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 233 Squadron. U-167 was moderately damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
At 1656 HRS on 5th Apr 1943 U-167 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 233 Squadron. U-167 was heavily damaged in the attack.
On 6th Apr 1943 U-167 came under attack from an unidentified aircraft.
Kurt Sturm hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy: One was from convoy RS-3 and one was from convoy UGS-6.
  • On 17th Mar 1943 he damaged the American 7,200 ton Molly Pitcher, sailing with convoy UGS-6.
  • On 28th Mar 1943 he sank the Belgian 4,621 ton Moanda, a member of convoy RS-3.
