| Operations information for U-384 | 12.12.1942 - 03.02.1943 First Sailing - active patrol
U-384 left Kiel under the command of Hans-Achim von Rosenberg-Gruszcynski on 12th Dec 1942 and arrived at La Pallice on 3rd Feb 1943 after seven and a half weeks.
Hans-Achim von Rosenberg-Gruszcynski hit one ship on this patrol.-
On 9th Jan 1943 he sank the American 6,155 ton Louise Lykes.

On the 6th Mar 1943, U-384 left La Pallice under the command of Hans-Achim von Rosenberg-Gruszcynski. U-384 was lost on 19th Mar 1943. At 0924 HRS on 19th Mar 1943 in square AL 47, U-384 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 206 Squadron. U-384 was destroyed in the attack.

On 17th Mar 1943 he sank the British 7,252 ton Coracero, sailing with convoy HX-229.

| Notes for U-384 | The action around convoy HX229 was the largest of the war. Some 40 boats attacked, sinking 21 ships. When about 800 miles South-West of Rockall, 206 SQN Fortress of 15th Group Coastal Command RAF (PO L G Clark) sighted a U-Boat within 20 minutes of the Fortress arriving over the embattled convoy. At 0925 Clark straddled the boat with D/Cs, and black oil appeared over the attack point. The oil patch was visible for hours. 47 men died with U-384, the only U-Boat lost during this convoy battle.
