| Operations information for U-461 | 21.06.1942 - 16.08.1942 First Sailing - active patrol
U-461 left Kiel under the command of Wolf-Harro Stiebler on 21st Jun 1942 and arrived at St. Nazaire on 16th Aug 1942 after eight weeks.U-461 was stationed West of the Azores as a supply boat. She supplied U-43, U-71, U-86, U-379, U-454, U-552, U-597, U-607 and U-704 for continued operations. She also supplied U-161 and U-332 who were returning to base.
| 07.09.1942 - 17.10.1942 Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 7th Sep 1942, U-461 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wolf-Harro Stiebler and returned to St. Nazaire on 17th Oct 1942 after more than five weeks on patrol.Took up station NW of the Azores. Re-supplied U-91, U-96, U-211, U-380, U-404, U-407 and U-584 for further operations; refuelled U-92, U-164, U-171, U-217, U-218, U-411, U-558 and U-594 for return to base.
| 19.11.1942 - 03.01.1943 Third Sailing - active patrol
U-461 departed under Wolf-Harro Stiebler from St. Nazaire on 19th Nov 1942 and arrived back at St. Nazaire on 3rd Jan 1943 after six and a half weeks on patrol.U-461 was stationed North of St Paul Rocks. Re-supplied U-126, U-128, U-134, U-159, U-161, U-174 and U-176 for continued operations, and U-154, U-163 and U-172 who were returning. On the 9th of December U-461 gave food to two lifeboats from Teesbank and took 1 prisoner from a boat. U-461 then moved to S of the Azores where U-129 and U-508 were re-fuelled for return to base.
| 13.02.1943 - 22.03.1943 Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-461 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wolf-Harro Stiebler on 13th Feb 1943 and returned over five weeks later to St. Nazaire on 22nd Mar 1943.South of the Azores re-supplied U-522. Then moved to SW of Azores, tended to U-43, U-66, U-106, U-202, U-504, U-521 and U-558 for further operations; re-supplied U-87 and U-382 for return to base.
| 20.04.1943 - 30.05.1943 Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 20th Apr 1943, U-461 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wolf-Harro Stiebler and arrived at Bordeaux on 30th May 1943 after more than five weeks. On 23rd Apr 1943 in square BF 49, U-461 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 172 Squadron. U-461 was only slightly damaged in the attack. Was stationed in the Central North Atlantic. There U-461 supplied the following for further operations: U-221, U-413, U-552, U-603, U-642 and U-707. Re-supplied U-108, U-532, U-598, U-610, U-631, U-662 and U-706 for return to base.

U-461 departed under Wolf-Harro Stiebler from Bordeaux on 22nd Jul 1943 and returned to Bordeaux on 23rd Jul 1943 after one day.A leaking tank forced U-461 to abort and return early.

U-461 left Bordeaux under the command of Wolf-Harro Stiebler on 27th Jul 1943. U-461 was sunk on 30th Jul 1943.
