Operations information for U-49
09.11.1939 - 29.11.1939 First Sailing - active patrol U-49 left Kiel under the command of Kurt von Gossler on 9th Nov 1939 and arrived back at Kiel nearly three weeks later on 29th Nov 1939. Kurt von Gossler hit one ship on this patrol. On 19th Nov 1939 he sank the British 4,258 ton Pensilva.
29.02.1940 - 05.03.1940 Second Sailing - active patrol On the 29th Feb 1940, U-49 left Kiel under the command of Kurt von Gossler and after five days arrived at Wilhelmshaven on 5th Mar 1940.
11.03.1940 - 29.03.1940 Third Sailing - active patrol U-49 departed under Kurt von Gossler from Wilhelmshaven on 11th Mar 1940 and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven on 29th Mar 1940 after two and a half weeks on patrol.
03.04.1940 - 15.04.1940 Fourth Sailing - active patrol U-49 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Kurt von Gossler on 3rd Apr 1940. U-49 was lost on 15th Apr 1940.
