U-506 departed under Erich Würdemann from Lorient on 6th Apr 1942 and arrived back at Lorient on 15th Jun 1942 after ten weeks on patrol.

  • On 10th May 1942 he damaged the American 7,050 ton Aurora.

U-506 left Lorient under the command of Erich Würdemann on 28th Jul 1942 and returned fourteen and a half weeks later to Lorient on 7th Nov 1942.
Erich Würdemann hit five ships on this patrol.
  • On 21st Aug 1942 he sank the British 5,733 ton City of Wellington.
  • On 23rd Aug 1942 he sank the British 4,416 ton Hamla.
  • On 5th Sep 1942 he sank the British 6,278 ton Myrmidon.
  • On 13th Sep 1942 he sank the Swedish 3,764 ton Lima.
  • On 30th Sep 1942 he sank the British 6,637 ton Siam II.
14.12.1942 - 08.05.1943
Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 14th Dec 1942, U-506 left Lorient under the command of Erich Würdemann and arrived back at Lorient more than twenty weeks later on 8th May 1943.
Erich Würdemann hit two ships on this patrol.
  • On 7th Mar 1943 he sank the British 5,212 ton Sabor.
  • On 9th Mar 1943 he sank the Norwegian 4,768 ton Tabor.
