  • On 28th Dec 1942 he damaged the Norwegian 5,701 ton Norse King, a member of convoy ONS-154.
  • On 29th Dec 1942 he sank the British 4,871 ton Zarian, part of convoy ONS-154.

Twelfth Sailing - active patrol
U-591 departed under Hans-Jürgen Zetzsche from Brest on 17th Feb 1943 and after seven weeks arrived at St. Nazaire on 7th Apr 1943.
Hans-Jürgen Zetzsche hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy, both of them were from convoy SC-121.
  • On 7th Mar 1943 he sank the British 6,116 ton Empire Impala, from convoy SC-121.
  • On 8th Mar 1943 he sank the Yugoslavian 5,879 ton Vojvoda Putnik, sailing with convoy SC-121.
12.05.1943 - 17.05.1943
Thirteenth Sailing - active patrol
U-591 left St. Nazaire under the command of Hans-Jürgen Zetzsche on 12th May 1943 and arrived back at St. Nazaire five days later on 17th May 1943.
On 15th May 1943 in square BE 69, U-591 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 10 OTU Squadron.
26.06.1943 - 30.07.1943
Fourteenth Sailing - active patrol
On the 26th Jun 1943, U-591 left St. Nazaire under the command of Reimar Ziesmer. U-591 was sunk on 30th Jul 1943.
