U-66 left Kiel under the command of Richard Zapp on 13th May 1941 and arrived at return on 11th Jun 1941 after just over four weeks.
23.06.1941 - 05.08.1941
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 23rd Jun 1941, U-66 left Lorient under the command of Richard Zapp and after just over six weeks arrived at return on 5th Aug 1941.
Richard Zapp hit four ships on this patrol, three of these ships were in convoy: One was from convoy OG-67 and two were from convoy SL-78.
  • On 29th Jun 1941 he sank the Greek 4,345 ton George J Goulandris, sailing with convoy SL-78.
  • On 29th Jun 1941 he sank the Greek 5,686 ton Kalypso Vergotti, a member of convoy SL-78.
  • On 30th Jun 1941 he sank the British 5,614 ton St Anselm.
  • On 19th Jul 1941 he sank the British 3,433 ton Holmside, part of convoy OG-67.

U-66 departed under Richard Zapp from Lorient on 28th Aug 1941 and arrived at return on 9th Nov 1941 after ten and a half weeks.
Richard Zapp hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 26th Sep 1941 he sank the Panamanian 7,052 ton IC White.

U-66 left Lorient under the command of Richard Zapp on 25th Dec 1941 and after more than six weeks arrived at return on 10th Feb 1942.

  • On 14th Apr 1942 he sank the Greek 2,116 ton Korthion.
  • On 16th Apr 1942 he sank the Dutch 7,329 ton Amsterdam.
  • On 17th Apr 1942 he sank the Panamanian 11,020 ton Heinrich von Riedemann.
  • On 26th Apr 1942 he sank the American 5,513 ton Alcoa Partner.
  • On 29th Apr 1942 he sank the Panamanian 10,354 ton Harry G Seidel.
  • On 2nd May 1942 he sank the Norwegian 7,624 ton Sandar.
  • On 3rd May 1942 he damaged the British 12,502 ton Geo W McKnight, from convoy ON-87.
