On 6th May 1942, at 09:35 the unescorted Amazone was hit by a torpedo on the port side.� She sank within two minutes.� 14 men were killed (12 men from the Dutch Antilles, one Dutch gunner and one Swiss crewman).� The survivors were rescued by the submarine chaser USS PC 484 and landed at Miami.
