First Sailing
U-607 left Kiel under the command of Ernst Mengersen on 9th Jul 1942 and arrived at Kristiansand on 10th Jul 1942 after one day.
13.07.1942 - 16.08.1942
Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 13th Jul 1942, U-607 left Kristiansand under the command of Ernst Mengersen and after nearly five weeks arrived at St. Nazaire on 16th Aug 1942.
Ernst Mengersen hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy: One was from convoy ON-113 and one was from convoy ON-115.
  • On 26th Jul 1942 he damaged the British 6,942 ton Empire Rainbow, sailing with convoy ON-113.
  • On 4th Aug 1942 he sank the Belgian 7,167 ton Belgian Soldier, a member of convoy ON-115.
08.09.1942 - 23.10.1942
Third Sailing - active patrol
U-607 departed under Ernst Mengersen from St. Nazaire on 8th Sep 1942 and arrived back at St. Nazaire on 23rd Oct 1942 after six and a half weeks on patrol.
Ernst Mengersen hit one ship on this patrol from convoy SC-104.
  • On 14th Oct 1942 he sank the Greek 4,826 ton Nellie, part of convoy SC-104.
02.01.1943 - 09.03.1943
Fourth Sailing - active patrol
U-607 left St. Nazaire under the command of Ernst Mengersen on 2nd Jan 1943 and returned nine and a half weeks later to St. Nazaire on 9th Mar 1943.
Ernst Mengersen hit two ships on this patrol and both of them were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-223 and one was from convoy ON-165.
  • On 26th Jan 1943 he damaged the Norwegian 8,259 ton Kollbjørg, from convoy HX-223.
  • On 15th Feb 1943 he sank the American 11,355 ton Atlantic Sun, sailing with convoy ON-165.

Fifth Sailing - active patrol
On the 24th Apr 1943, U-607 left St. Nazaire under the command of Wolf Jeschonnek and arrived back at St. Nazaire five and a half weeks later on 2nd Jun 1943.
On 28th Apr 1943 in square BE 96, U-607 came under attack from an aircraft of RAF 172 Squadron. U-607 was not damaged by the attack. The boat defended itself with flak without destroying the aircraft.
At 1430 HRS on 12th May 1943 in square BD 66, U-607 came under attack from an aircraft of FAA 811 Squadron.
Wolf Jeschonnek hit one ship on this patrol.
  • On 15th May 1943 he sank the Irish 5,589 ton Irish Oak.
10.07.1943 - 13.07.1943
Sixth Sailing - active patrol
U-607 departed under Wolf Jeschonnek from St. Nazaire on 10th Jul 1943. On the 13th Jul 1943, U-607 was sunk.
