| Operations information for U-29 | 19.08.1939 - 26.09.1939 First Sailing - active patrol
U-29 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Otto Schuhart on 19th Aug 1939 for operations in the North Atlantic and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven five and a half weeks later on 26th Sep 1939.
Otto Schuhart hit four ships on this patrol.-
On 8th Sep 1939 he sank the British 10,176 ton Regent Tiger.

On 13th Sep 1939 he sank the British 798 ton Neptunia.

On 14th Sep 1939 he sank the British 8,431 ton British Influence.

On 17th Sep 1939 he sank the British 22,500 ton HMS Courageous.
KL Schuhart's crew handed out cigarettes and spirits to the surivors of the Neptunia. He also led the Norwegian ship Ida Bakko to the dinghys of the crew of the British Influence. After sinking the Courageous, HMS Ivanhoe counterattacked U-29 which evaded 3 d/c attacks without damage. Hitler greeted and decorated the crew of U-29 upon its return to Wilhelmshaven.
| 14.11.1939 - 16.12.1939 Second Sailing - active patrol
On the 14th Nov 1939, U-29 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Otto Schuhart for operations in the North Atlantic and returned to Wilhelmshaven on 16th Dec 1939 after four and a half weeks on patrol.U-29 was to have laid mines in Milford Haven but the operation was abandoned due to stiff defences encountered.
| 06.02.1940 - 12.03.1940 Third Sailing - active patrol
U-29 departed under Otto Schuhart from Wilhelmshaven on 6th Feb 1940 for operations in the Bristol Channel and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven on 12th Mar 1940 after five weeks on patrol.
Otto Schuhart hit two ships on this patrol.-
On 4th Mar 1940 he sank the British 3,072 ton Thurston.

On 4th Mar 1940 he sank the British 6,717 ton Pacific Reliance.
U-29 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 1 ship. The 710 ton British Cato was sunk by a mine on 3rd Mar 1940.U-29 had laid 8 mines off Bull Point on 3rd March.

U-29 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Otto Schuhart on 17th Apr 1940 and after six days arrived at Trondheim on 23rd Apr 1940.

On the 27th Apr 1940, U-29 left Trondheim under the command of Otto Schuhart and arrived at Wilhelmshaven on 4th May 1940 after one week.

U-29 departed under Otto Schuhart from Wilhelmshaven on 27th May 1940 for operations in the South West approaches and returned to Wilhelmshaven on 11th Jul 1940 after six and a half weeks on patrol.

On the 11th Sep 1940, U-29 left Bergen under the command of Otto Schuhart for operations in the North Atlantic and after nearly three weeks arrived at Lorient on 1st Oct 1940.
Otto Schuhart hit one ship on this patrol from convoy OB-217.-
On 25th Sep 1940 he sank the British 6,223 ton Eurymedon, a member of convoy OB-217.

| Notes for U-29 | U-29 was decommissioned on 17th April 1944, and was used as a gunnery platform by 4th Unterseeboots-Lehr-Division until the end of the war. On 5th May 1945 the boat was scuttled in Flensburg Fiord, Kupfermühlen Bay.
