U-34 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Wilhelm Rollmann on 19th Aug 1939 and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven five and a half weeks later on 26th Sep 1939.
Wilhelm Rollmann hit three ships on this patrol.-
On 7th Sep 1939 he sank the British 5,809 ton Pukkastan.

On the 17th Oct 1939, U-34 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Wilhelm Rollmann and returned to Wilhelmshaven on 12th Nov 1939 after more than three weeks on patrol.
Wilhelm Rollmann hit five ships on this patrol, two of these ships were in convoy: One was from convoy HX-5A and one was from convoy OB-25.

U-34 departed under Wilhelm Rollmann from Wilhelmshaven on 1st Jan 1940 and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven on 6th Feb 1940 after just over five weeks on patrol.

On 28th Jan 1940 he sank the Greek 5,625 ton Eleni Stathatou.
U-34 laid mines on this patrol. These mines were hit by 1 ship. The 7,807 ton British Caroni River was sunk by a mine on 20th Jan 1940.

U-34 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Wilhelm Rollmann on 11th Mar 1940 and returned more than two weeks later to Wilhelmshaven on 30th Mar 1940.

On the 3rd Apr 1940, U-34 left Wilhelmshaven under the command of Wilhelm Rollmann and arrived back at Wilhelmshaven nearly four weeks later on 30th Apr 1940.

U-34 departed under Wilhelm Rollmann from Wilhelmshaven on 22nd Jun 1940 and after more than three weeks arrived at Lorient on 18th Jul 1940.

U-34 left Lorient under the command of Wilhelm Rollmann on 23rd Jul 1940 and arrived at Wilhelmshaven on 3rd Aug 1940 after one and a half weeks.
Wilhelm Rollmann hit five ships on this patrol, four of these ships were in convoy, all of them from convoy OB-188.-

| Notes for U-34 | U-34 was under the command of LT Eduard Aust on 5th August 1943 when the boat collided with the U-Boat Tender Lech. 4 men died in the accident, 39 men were rescued. U-34 was later raised. While under tow on 2nd February 1944, the boat foundered in the Baltic North of Warnemünde.
